These formulations are nylon 6.6 compounds, nucleated to accelerate crystallization and incorporating an especially effective mold release.

 

For molded parts, which may be exposed to high temperatures for prolonged periods of time, one of the heat stabilized grades should be selected. N6650HSL contains a conventional stabilizer system, which provides excellent protection against thermal aging, but can slightly tint the natural color, normally to a greenish hue. For applications where preservation of natural color is important, especially for precision color matches, the use of N6650HL, which incorporates an effective stabilizer system free from color effects, is recommended. The properties of these heat-stabilized grades are similar to those of the general-purpose product, with the exception of elongation to break, which may be slightly reduced.

 

These formulations are recommended for applications where very short cycle times are required, especially for high production multi-cavity tools. Compared with a general-purpose product such as N6650L, these nucleated grades exhibit higher strength and rigidity, but lower practical toughness. Mold shrinkage is also lower, and less anisotropic, often resulting in reduced tendency for warpage.

 

Nylon 6.6 offers a unique combination of strength and toughness, excellent static and dynamic fatigue resistance, natural lubricity and resistance to the effects of a broad range of chemicals, oils and solvents, and is therefore used for a very wide range of applications in every end-use category.
